Frequently Asked Questions About Philips M5071A HeartStart AED Pads
When do my AED pads expire?
Just like your M5070A battery, your defibrillator pads do expire. The use-before date is essentially an expiration date that your pads must be replaced by. Usually a new set of HeartStart Pads will have an expiration date of 24 months after your initial purchase. AEDLAND recommends purchasing a new SMART PADS Cartridge a few weeks before your use-by date.
Should I only purchase one set of Philips SMART Pads Cartridge?
I highly recommend to purchase two sets of Philips Heartstart pads for your AED machine. The reason being that it is possible that once applied, your Philips AED pads may have poor adhesion to the skin due to excessive moisture, body hair, or improper pad placement, and your pad will not stick, leaving your AED useless and the patient’s life at risk.
Can I use the same Philips HeartStart Replacement pads on multiple patients?
No, the Philips HeartStart HS1 replacement pads are only intended to be used on one patient and should not be used for another sudden cardiac arrest emergency.
Where can I dispose of my used Philips Heartstart M5071A SMART PADS Cartridge?
If you you have an expired adult smart pads cartridge, you may dispose of it according to your local disposal regulations, but usually it is able to be put with your landfill waste.
